CoSketch

Summary of CoSketch: CoSketch is a fee online whiteboard (unless you want pro version) that allows multiple users to contribute to the whiteboard. You can share your thoughts and ideas through images in a creative and fun way. CoSketch is free and can be used through any browser. Anything you type or draw will show up in real time, right away. You can save what you draw and embed those links into your blog or an email for others to view. TO try it out for yourself go to http://cosketch.com.

Pros and Cons of CoSketch: Some pros of using CoSketch in your classroom is that what your students are writing or drawing is in real time and whoever is watching, whether it’s a teach or a classmate can view what is being drawn. It can be a great tool for Pictionary too! One con is that the there is a chat feature in the tool and this feature can be dangerous if students are sharing more information that they safely should be. It is important to teach your students about digital citizenship and the risks of sharing personal information on the internet.

How CoSketch can be used in the classroom: You can use CoSketch in your classroom for so many things. Some of those include; lists, brainstorming ideas, drawings, pro and con lists, graphic organizer, quick presentations, and math problems. CoSketch is such a creative and fun tool to use in your classroom and can be used by literally any age and in any subject areas in my opinion. The younger ages may need help navigating and reading but can still have a great time getting used to the tool and drawing and even practicing writing their names. This site also has a chat option, but I urge you to make sure you educate your students on the risks of chatting and sharing information on the Internet with strangers. It is important to continuously monitor your students. You can use pictures that you take during lesson, science labs, etc and use those images to write on in your whiteboard. It is a great way for students to recap the steps that they went through during their lab.
